Well yeah, I'm sort of back in the cosplay photography and photography business in general. A few things in my personal life had to be taken care of, especially finding a proper job and thus securing my future. Sadly, I had to sell my Fuji X-Pro1 during this time. I managed to get my hands on a barely used 1D Mark II body (which I already owned before) that delivers superb image quality thanks to it's APS-H sensor along with a sweet 85mm f/1.8 lens.
Going to add a 30mm Sigma f/1.4 and a flash to it later this year and that's it. No more body or brand changing. More than enough for when I'm shooting on cons, since I'll be working fulltime starting on the 1st September.
I thought a lot about some of my clients during this time and came to the conclusion that some are just plain assholes (no names dropped here). I expect at least a simple "Thank you", but when I get nothing at all it sort of hurts. People think that a shoot might be run and gun, but I prepare myself intensively for it. Watching the series, remembering character personalities, looking for matching locations and such on. I'll be taking a small fee now from clients that are new for me, this covers my travelling expenses and work put into preparing the shooting.
It sure has been a while since I last had a camera in my hands (well, if you don't count lending me her camera during the Leipzig Bookfair) and I certainly have itchy hands and new ideas that I'd like to try out soon with you guys.
The next event that I'll be attending is "Domo Arigato #3" on the 13th. April. They offer a small studio, so I'll look forward to doing some High-key or low-key (depending on the backdrop) pictures. Dropping by? Drop me a PM!
